私たちの身体は絶えず、新陳代謝しています。
私たちは、毎日食べ、消化し吸収し、細胞を合成するタンパク質を再合成しています。
１個の細胞の中には８０億個のタンパク質があり、そのタンパク質のうち２～３％が毎日新しいものに入れ替わると言います。
計算すると、なんと約３か月で、体内のタンパク質はほぼ全て入れ替わるのです。
そして、細胞レベルにおいても、赤血球細胞の寿命は約１２０日程度、肝臓細胞の寿命は１５０日程度、お肌の表皮層は、女性ならよくご存じのように、およそ２８日周期でターンオーバーしています。胃や腸の内壁細胞にいたっては、およそ５日間で入れ替わる細胞もあります。脳細胞はおよそ１年で入れ替わります。硬い骨にも、破骨細胞と骨芽細胞とがあって、壊しては創り、壊しては創りながら、骨もおよそ半年もすれば、ほとんどが入れ替わってしまいます（骨全部が入れ替わるのには２年かかります）。
つまり、私たちの身体というのは、ほんの一部を除いて、１年もすればまるっきり入れ替わってしまうのです。私たちの身体は、１年前と今とでは、物質的にはほとんど別人というわけなのです。
この身体の入れ替わりの変化を生み出しているのは、絶え間なく身体を作り続けている「新陳代謝という力」と、そこに材料を送り続けている「血の巡りの力」です。この２つの力が弱ければ、身体の入れ替わりがスムーズに行われず、どんどん身体が衰えていき、病気もなかなか治らないということになるわけです。
身体の入れ替わりが「元気」（自然治癒力）を生み出します。
常に新しく生まれ変わる自分であること。
まずは、血の巡りをよくしましょう。
